Aonyōbō is a yokai in Japanese mythology. She took on the appearance of an old court aristocrat and dressed in an ornately decorated layered kimono of the ancient era. It used to be great, but it's now torn and patched. She has a white face covered in makeup, eyebrows are drawn high and teeth have been blackened. Unlike other youkai, Ao Nyobo is getting older and older, gradually becoming an old, ugly old woman, with sagging skin but still under the illusion that she is as beautiful as before.
Aonyōbō lived in abandoned, empty mansions of bygone ages, covered with cobwebs and cockroaches lurking everywhere in the dark, formerly occupied by corrupt nobles and families dilapidated. The place was full of cold and used to the musty scent emanating from the cracked walls, sleeping on the rotten wood planks.
Aonyōbō constantly put on her make-up, hairdo, and image retouching waiting for the arrival of visitors. They can be men who leave their wives, wanderers, flower lovers. She waited for them to enter her mansion, then opened her mouth wide, swallowed the unfortunate victims who deserved this tragic death, and then waited again.
Origin: It is said that Nyobo were formerly female officials in the Japanese court of the previous era. They are all young, beautiful, educated and sophisticated. The courtiers often served in the homes of great nobles until they married an assigned son, often from lowly backgrounds as well as being so poor that they could not afford to marry or escape poverty. However, over time, people gradually turned Ao Nyobo into wilted courtiers waiting for their husband's return, even though it is not necessarily wrong to say that this monster waits for glory and wealth to return to the castle.
